If you’ve ever felt like your words can’t quite reach the depth of your pain, Brainspotting (BSP) offers a powerful way forward. Based on the profound premise that "where you look affects how you feel," Brainspotting is a specialized, brain-body treatment that identifies, processes, and releases neurophysiological sources of emotional and physical pain. It taps into the deep, subcortical parts of the brain where trauma is held, bypassing the "thinking" mind to foster healing from the inside out.
Traditional therapy often focuses on the neocortex—the part of the brain responsible for logic and language. However, trauma and stress are frequently stored in the deeper, more primitive midbrain and limbic system. During a Brainspotting session, we work together to find a "Brainspot"—an eye position that correlates to the internal activation of a specific issue.
By holding this focused gaze, we engage the brain’s self-scanning and self-regulating capacities. This sustained ocular focus acts as a doorway, allowing the nervous system to "reset" and process unprocessed cellular memory. It is a deeply intuitive process that honors your body's innate wisdom and ability to heal itself.
Brainspotting is a highly flexible, relational approach. There are no rigid protocols or repetitive eye movements; instead, we follow your lead in an organic flow. Similar to EMDR, Brainspotting allows us to go beyond talking about the problem and start resolving it at its source, but with less rigidity.
